Rage Against the Machine

Show Information:

East Rutherford, NJ USA
Mumia Benefit Concert. Proceeds from this concert went to the legal defenses of Mumia. This caused quite a bit of controversy - New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, State Police Superintendent Carl A. Williams, and State Attorney General Peter G. Verniero denounced the concert and urged ticket holders to seek refunds and boycott the show. Only recorded performances of Mic Check and Maria, and the version of Testify played differs from the album version. Chuck D of Public Enemy came out and gave a speech near the encore.

Type: DVD - Audience
Length: 74 minutes
Complete: Yes
Taper: Unknown
Lineage: Unknown
Notes: This DVD is made up of two camera angles - one from the center and one from the left. I don't think anything is known about the original source, but I'd guess its the same crew that did their 1997 East Rutherford show. If anyone has individual videos from each angle, let me know! This is one of my favorite recordings - great energy from the band and a rather unique setlist
Type: FLAC - Audience
Length: 74 minutes
Complete: Yes
Taper: tapeworm(48)
Lineage: Marcsounds Mics>D100>DAT(M)>FLAC
Notes: Another great tapeworm tape! His notes: Location: FOB, left side risers, 1st or 2nd section from stage. Benefit for Mumia Abu Jamal. Black Star, Bad Religion, and Beastie Boys opened the show. 3 new songs debuted this evening with alternate lyrics. Level adjustment during the first song. Thanks to AC for hooking me up with tickets for this gig. Previous transfers were performed with an analog EQ and CDR generations. This is a raw transfer of the master DAT in 2011 with no fades or EQ.
Type: FLAC - Audience
Length: 73 minutes
Complete: Yes
Taper: Unknown
Lineage: Core Sound low Cost Binaurals > Sharp MS-702
Notes: Acquired in February 2021 via the mighty DiGUM - huge thanks for providing me with this tape! This is an awesome sounding recording. There is a screamer between songs so brace yourselves, but everything is totally clear while the band plays. The tape seems to have Down Rodeo twice: I think there was either a transfer glitch or recording glitch and Vietnow is not present. Highly recommended download - you can't go wrong with this source or the Marcsounds version!
