    (Allen Ginsberg cover)
  • I first have to apologize for not speaking your language. It's my fault. And it's been very frustrating when I want to ... uh, I find it very difficult and frustrating to communicate sometimes because of that. But I need to say a couple of things before we go on. And that is, it's very important to recognize... give me a second man and we'll play some music alright. You can have all the music you want, just give me a couple of fucking minutes to explain something, please. If Rage Against the Machine had one common purpose, I think it would be to get everyone that we come in contact with, every single person we communicate with, every time we step on the stage, it's the communication process. If we had one common purpose it'd be every single individual that comes in contact with us to recognize that each individual in this room has fucking power. Together, collectively, we have so much power. It's important that we begin to recognize that. Because we're living in a very volatile time especially here in France. Especially here in France. We're in a time where groups, small groups of fascists, have escalated to people running around murdering innocent women and children based on the color of their skin. Based on their sexual affiliation. And I think all of us need to be aware of the fact that unless we take direct action against these fascists they will continue to exist and people will continue to die. It's also important, it's also important to realize that it's gone from yelling a couple of white power slogans to people who have been around for a very long time were taken so called respectable positions in office. Men like Jean-Marie Le Pen, this mother fucker needs to go down. But we can stand in a room, we can stand in a room, we can stand in a room all night and chant anti-fascist slogans but when it fucking comes down to it we need to go into the schools, we need to go into the streets, and attack fascism where it is, because, check it out, check it out, check it out, because if we're not doing anything to actively fight facism then we are supporting fascism. Check this out. We've been working all tour with the Anti-Nazi League. We've been trying to get out information to people coming to the shows. And let you know of a personal resource where you can personally get involved and fight fascism on real levels. Not just chanting anti-fascist statements but getting out into the streets and actually making a difference there. Please take a look at the information, ok out here on the way out over by the t-shirt stands. We appreciate if you pick that up. Because the thing about it is, check it out, Rage Against the Machine is not simply for your entertainment, you know. If we wanted to sit up here and talk for the rest of the time we'll do so. Alright, we'll play music just respect the fact that we're going to fucking speak for a little bit, alright. Does anyone in the crowd right now would like to say a few words about their experiences dealing with fascists or racism here in France I'd like to, I'd like you to come up now and speak. This brother right here is the first person to raise his hand, come up here. (someone from the crowd comes up and speaks French for a bit). If anyone else would like to come up and say a few words then come up quickly before we go on, before we actually play some music. Yes. Would you come up here, if you do wish to come up here come on and help us out. (crowd member comes up - I just want to say, youth against fascists! French chatter for a bit). I really appreciate those that listened to what we have to say and the people that listened respectfully. I really appreciate you guys being attentive and listening And we wanted to communicate and to take into account that we have this information here for you. This is for everyone that listened attentively this is called Killing in the Name
