    Early Version
  • If I could real quick for a second I'd like to thank the Beastie Boys, Bad Religion, Blackstar for joining us here. And most importantly I'd like to thank all of you for not being intimidated by the police and all the threats and coming here and standing up for Mumia Abu-Jamal. We're at a critical phase in the case against Mumia as it's going to the federal courts very soon. I want each and every one of you to look around. Look around at each other I want you to acknowledge the power in this room and acknowledge what could happen if we all stand up, get this information, put it to good use and stop the execution of Mumia. Look around! Because there's only really a few politicans and cops around the country who want to keep Mumia in jail and eventually sentence him to death. What can a few cops and politicans do to twenty thousand crazy motherfuckers like yourselves? There ain't No Shelter here! There ain't No Shelter here!
  • 11. No Shelter
  • This song is called Freedom.
  • 12. Freedom
  • (Chuck D) It ain't over. It ain't over. What's up? Bottom line: it's about freeing Mumia and freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitudes. My name is Chuck D. of Public Enemy along with Professor Griff. My man Kyle Jason. Coming out here to represent. We know the whole city was in fear. And fear was in the air because they thought there was going to be a wild motherfucking scene here in New Jeresy. But the wild scene remains up here. Because the music is more of a communicator than the same old rhetoric than they all fucking [??]. Now in my many travels around the world, one time I went to Italy and in the streets of Milan Italy I saw a Free Mumia Abu-Jamal poster. In Italy! It's a fucking damn shame here in the land of the free, United Snakes of America, that a lot of people here can't see the same damn thing. But you can. So number one is about the music, but it's also about the message with the message because it communicates to all that there ain't no fucking color line, right is right, wrong is fucking wrong. And that's the whole point of it. Give the man a fair chance. Give people that have been prosecuted in this land a fair chance to really become equal instead of all that bullshit talk. The jail cells in America have been a one sided crime. All the way back to slavery. And a lot of people are tired of hearing that shit. But until everybody is right, and everybody truly represents around the planet as one people, it is going to be a lot of fucking poison going on. So ladies and gentlemen it ain't over, keep your head, keep the faith, free Mumia Abu-Jamal, but also, free your mind, use your independent thought and don't be a fucking robot going in to the 21st century. The fucking millenium is coming and there is a lot of robots out there stupid and dumb as fuck and you can't be a part of it. Thank you! Let's continue this shit on. Can we get another one Rage Against the Machine? Can we get another one? Can we get another one? Say hell yeah. Can we get another one say hell yeah. [??] got to come up with this New York metropolitation, New Jersey route, rally, rally, rally ruckus [??] c'mon. Can we get another one ya'll? Can somebody say Free Mumia! Free Mumia! And all that was scared for shit jumping off, you ain't seen shit yet. The future holds nothing but complication if they won. Let's get another one.
  • Encore Break
  • 13. Killing In The Name
  • Thank you good night, free Mumia Abu-Jamal!

JB once again provided a full send taping from the left of the venue for this incredible concert. This is the two-cam mix that is made up of a left and center shot.

Acquired in February 2021 via the mighty DiGUM - huge thanks for providing me with this tape! This is an awesome sounding recording. There is a screamer between songs so brace yourselves, but everything is totally clear while the band plays. The tape seems to have Down Rodeo twice: I think there was either a transfer glitch or recording glitch and Vietnow is not present. Highly recommended download - you can't go wrong with this source or the Marcsounds version!

Another great tapeworm tape! His notes: Location: FOB, left side risers, 1st or 2nd section from stage. Benefit for Mumia Abu Jamal. Black Star, Bad Religion, and Beastie Boys opened the show. 3 new songs debuted this evening with alternate lyrics. Level adjustment during the first song. Thanks to AC for hooking me up with tickets for this gig. Previous transfers were performed with an analog EQ and CDR generations. This is a raw transfer of the master DAT in 2011 with no fades or EQ.

A huge thanks to Alan for sending this over. I cannot thank you enough for providing the archive with an uncirculated master recording from one of Rage's most legendary sets. This tape sat untransferred for 24 years!

JB shot from the upper left of the venue and got some unbelievable footage. This is the same left angle on the two cam mix that commonly circulated. Full send!

This was bought at Bleeker Street Records off West 4th Street back in the late 90s/early 00s. The CD has Mic Check, Maria, and Testify out of order and Testify listed as "Hendrix" so my guess is that this was made shortly after the show. It does not appear to be one of the existing, circulating sources. No identifying marks of who made it on the CD.
